Upper Limb

The Upper Limb program will bring together internationally recognised faculty, leading Australian surgeons and specialists across shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand trauma and reconstruction.
Designed as a leading educational forum for the upper limb community, the program will feature dedicated Shoulder & Elbow and Wrist & Hand programs, focusing on emerging techniques, complex case management, current evidence and evolving treatment strategies.
Through expert-led presentations, practical discussions and interactive case reviews, delegates will have the opportunity to engage directly with leaders in the field, challenge current thinking and explore different treatment approaches and how clinical practice is evolving across upper limb surgery.
As part of ODU 2027, Upper Limb delegates will enjoy a dedicated subspecialty agenda while also connecting with the broader orthopaedic community through shared plenary sessions and networking events.

Professor Greg Bain is an orthopaedic surgeon specialising exclusively in upper limb surgery and Professor of Upper Limb and Research at Flinders University. Internationally recognised for his work in hand, wrist and elbow surgery, he has published more than 190 peer-reviewed papers, contributed over 100 book chapters and co-edited seven textbooks. Professor Bain has held numerous international leadership and academic roles and has a particular interest in surgical education, arthroscopy and minimally invasive surgery.

Dr Benjamin East is an orthopaedic surgeon specialising in shoulder and elbow surgery, with extensive experience in complex upper limb trauma and reconstruction. He completed subspecialty fellowships in Melbourne and Cambridge, followed by further training at Centre Orthopédique Santy in Lyon. Dr East works at John Hunter Hospital and is actively involved in orthopaedic research, implant design and education. He has published and presented widely at national and international meetings and courses.
